Step 1: Activating Shopify Payments

Activation takes place directly from the Shopify admin panel, under Settings → Payments. Identity verification of the store owner and business details is required in accordance with financial regulations.

Step 2: Accepting payments

Once activated, the store automatically handles credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay and Google Pay. Checkout is optimised for conversion — customers are not redirected to external pages.

Step 3: Processing and security

All transactions are encrypted and comply with the PCI DSS standard. Built-in fraud protection automatically assesses the risk of each transaction and flags suspicious orders without blocking legitimate purchases.

Step 4: Payouts

Funds are paid out directly to the store's bank account on a set schedule — typically within 2–3 business days. Daily, weekly, or monthly payout schedules can be configured.

• Plus: 1.45% + 1.20 PLN per transaction

Using external payment processors (PayU, Przelewy24, Stripe) incurs an additional Shopify fee:

• Shopify: 1%
• Advanced: 0.5%
• Plus: 0.15%

Note: a currency conversion fee of 2% applies when processing payments in foreign currencies. This should be factored into calculations for stores selling in multiple currencies.

How to activate Shopify Payments in Poland?

The process of setting up Shopify Payments involves several steps:
